We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and confident Principal Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary technical team for a globally recognised water utility. SA Waters Engineering department is accountable for the provision of a high quality technical expertise in engineering across the civil/structural, dams, electrical, geotechnical, material science, mechanical, hydraulic and reticulation networks disciplines.
SA Water is looking for a collaboratively focused professional who can lead, inspire and work to develop, implement and achieve our business group objectives.
A key responsibility for the role is to be the primary point of contact for the engagement and leadership of Mechanical and Hydraulic Engineering Services for our business. This requires that you will be engaged with a broad range of tasks requiring technical support for major water and waste water assets as well as providing engineering support for high profile major projects and programs of work.
The Principal Engineer, Mechanical/Hydraulic is an opportunity for a customer focused, professional who exhibits the highest level of expertise in the technical discipline and mentoring of professionals in a team environment. As a specialist in your field your skill set and working experience will include:
• Proven proactive approach to management of safety throughout the design process.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering;
• Demonstrated practice of hydraulic modelling including generation and interpretation;
• Demonstrated practice of mechanical engineering including performance and equipment selection;
• Demonstrated extensive practice and auditing in all phases of design including technical investigations, concepts and as built;
• Applied capability for the ongoing development and review of technical standards and guidelines;
• Mentoring and developing technical capability within the discipline team;
An aptitude for innovation coinciding with water networks and the use of technology to provide predictive maintenance tools and protocols.
Working towards shared business outcomes, you will form partnerships with external engineering consultants and construction contractors, fostering an environment where the people you lead will work as a cohesive integrated team focused on delivering successful outcomes for our customers.
