  • Provide strategic direction for wastewater pipe assets by developing and refining Asset Approaches, Business Cases, and Asset Management Plans that align with corporate strategy and customer expectations.
  • Apply whole-of-life costing principles and risk-based decision-making to prioritise investments, optimise asset performance, and ensure sustainable service delivery.
  • Oversee the delivery of asset lifecycle activities—including operation, maintenance, optimisation, and rationalisation—to ensure performance targets are met and continuously improved.
  • Identify and manage asset-related risks, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and internal policies, while supporting continuous improvement of asset management systems.
  • Define asset information needs, analyse performance data, and collaborate with internal teams to improve data quality and support evidence-based planning and reporting.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promote the value of asset management, and contribute to customer research and innovation initiatives.

About the Person

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and experienced asset management professional with a strong background in wastewater infrastructure. They will bring a customer-centric mindset, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and sustainability. Additional requirements are:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science, Asset Management, or a Trade-based discipline.
  • Sound understanding of asset management principles and their application in infrastructure planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage ambiguity, and make clear, informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of water or wastewater infrastructure assets, including maintenance and operational activities.
