Behind this essential service are people who care. From engineering and science to construction, digital, operations and customer experience, every role plays a part. We bring our authentic selves to work, driven by purpose, supporting one another to deliver work that truly matters.

About the job

The Assurance Specialist plays a key role in coordinating assurance activities, supporting the implementation of the 26/27 Internal Audit Plan, and building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and external assurance partners.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with a broad range of people, managing competing priorities, and contributing to continuous improvement outcomes that help strengthen organisational performance.

This max-term opportunity is available until 31 May 2027.

About the Person

You are confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels, both within and outside the organisation, and can communicate clearly while maintaining a customer focused approach. You bring strong administrative and coordination skills and are comfortable managing documentation, contracts and procurement related activities.

Experience in assurance, governance, risk, compliance or a related corporate environment will be highly regarded, however we welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and a demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and deliver outcomes.

About People and Safety

Working in People and Safety means shaping culture, attracting and developing talent, supporting leaders and teams, strengthening safe and inclusive workplaces, and enabling strong governance, risk management and organisational resilience across South Australia. Your work will help ensure we have the right people, skills, systems and environments to deliver essential water and wastewater services now and into the future with confidence, integrity and resilience.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and implementation of SA Water’s Assurance Framework, processes and systems.
  • Support procurement and contract administration activities, including raising purchase orders, preparing RFQ’s and maintaining accurate records and documentation.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills to influence others and enable establishment and maintenance of positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strategic and conceptual thinker, balanced reasoning with sound decision making skills.
  • Ability to work in a complex political and legislative environment with minimal direction to achieve outcomes in a context of changing priorities and during times of workload pressure.
  • Knowledge of and/or exposure to governance disciplines within large organisations, including experience working in public sector organisations or navigating government agency political and legislative environments.
