About the Job

We are seeking expressions of interest for an experienced and strategic leader to shape and drive our Health and Wellbeing framework. As the Manager, Work Health, Wellness and Hygiene, you will lead initiatives that promote physical and mental health, oversee injury management and return-to-work programs, and ensure compliance with occupational hygiene and Workcover self-insurance requirements.

A forward-thinking leader with a deep understanding of injury management, occupational hygiene, and health and wellbeing programs. You will bring a strategic mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to lead and inspire teams. With a focus on proactive health strategies, risk management, and continuous improvement, you will play a key role in fostering a safe, healthy, and supportive work environment at SA Water. You will help drive a culture where health and wellness extend beyond the workplace and our people are encouraged to adopt self-care and healthy habits. You will focus holistically on the worker health and wellness lifecycle from the time they commence work at SA Water and reflect this in the program design.

About People and Safety

The People and Safety group are focused on ensuring workforce well-being and success through strategies such as talent attraction, diversity, and collaboration, while also prioritising health and safety efforts to prevent harm and promote overall well-being and career development.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of SA Water’s Health and Wellbeing framework and programs.
  • Oversee injury management, return-to-work programs, and compliance with Workcover self-insurance requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage occupational hygiene, health monitoring, and psychosocial risk.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to internal stakeholders to build a culture of health and safety.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on health and wellbeing performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Review and improve on wellness programs with a focus on prevention and good health, including but not isolated to immunisation, health checks, drug and alcohol testing.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Extensive experience managing self-insured workers’ compensation schemes and return-to-work programs.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace health, injury management, and psychosocial risk management.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven leadership skills, with a track record of coaching and mentoring teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective health and wellbeing strategies.
  • Registered health professionals (Nursing, allied health, health science) are encouraged to apply.
