About the job
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Treatment and Network Technician based in Coober Pedy, to support the operation, maintenance, and performance of our treatment and network assets in the Far North region. In this hands-on role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the delivery of high-quality water services that meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and operational standards.

About Operations and Maintenance 

The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Reporting to the Treatment and Network Coordinator, you will undertake a range of planned and reactive operational, maintenance, and capital works activities across treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, and network infrastructure. Your technical expertise will help maximise asset reliability, performance, and safety while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

You will:

  • The safe & efficient operation of our regional treatment plants to ensure compliance with drinking water quality guidelines and SA Water procedures.
  • Routine plant maintenance & inspections (repair/service/calibration of plant equipment).
  • Input into the development and improvement of operational procedures & methods.
  • Assisting with the ongoing optimisation of treatment processes.
  • Effective collaboration to ensure team goals are achieved.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with team members, contractors, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Proven capability to analyse operational and technical issues, diagnose faults, and implement practical solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing treatment, utility, industrial, or infrastructure assets.
  • Current Heavy Combination (HC) licence preferred, or ability to obtain and maintain relevant heavy vehicle licensing requirements.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, asset management systems, and digital work management tools.
  • Experience using and maintaining mobile and fixed plant, machinery, vehicles, hand tools, and power tools in a safe and effective manner.
  • Trade qualification (Mechanical or Electrical), Water Industry Operator Certificate III, SCADA experience, or demonstrated knowledge of water treatment processes and operations will be highly regarded.
