About the job
As a Water Security Analyst, you will play a key role in maintaining water security in Australia’s driest state, using data and analytics to support critical decision-making across regional systems.
You will monitor and identify emerging trends, uncover risks, maintain compliance, inform optimisation and anticipate future challenges for the water sources supporting 40+ towns/localities/cities across regional SA, ensuring SA Water can meet customer demands now and into the future.
Working at the intersection of water security and data analytics, you will leverage groundwater and broader water security data to provide insights that inform operations, planning, compliance, and long-term investment decisions. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver advanced analytics, develop dashboards and predictive models, and contribute to AI-supported solutions that enhance water security outcomes.
About the Person
You are a water strategist with a passion for data (or vice versa!) - a true “data nerd” who enjoys diving into numbers and translating insights into meaningful outcomes.
We are open-minded about where you come from. You may bring experience from the water sector, or you may come from a tech or data-driven environment with transferable skills and a deep curiosity for water security.
You bring a strong foundation in data analytics and a mindset focused on using trusted, credible data to inform decisions. You are comfortable working with complex datasets, spotting patterns, and thinking ahead to “see around corners.”
You also have an understanding of AI/ML applications, along with experience working with platforms such as SCADA, Power BI, and Azure/cloud environments.

The Science and Strategy group employs scientific approaches to address present and upcoming challenges. They execute a strategy driven by customer outcomes to elevate the SA Water brand and position us for success now and into the future.
