About the Company

At SA Water, our work sustains life. Every day, we deliver safe, reliable water and wastewater services to more than 1.8 million South Australians, supporting healthy communities across our state.

Behind this essential service are people who care. From engineering and science to construction, digital, operations and customer experience, every role plays a part. We bring our authentic selves to work, driven by purpose, supporting one another to deliver work that truly matters.

About the job

This role supports the Production and Treatment Team in the day-to-day operation of water treatment plants, ensuring water quality guidelines are consistently achieved. Based in Murray Bridge, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to build your career in a growing regional community while making a meaningful contribution to the essential water services that support the Lower Murray region.

As part of the Lower Murray team, you’ll have the opportunity to work across water treatment plants throughout the region, providing operational coverage and gaining experience across a variety of sites. Some travel between sites will be required, along with participation in an on-call roster and occasional out-of-hours work.

About the Person

We’re looking for someone who demonstrates commitment, attention to detail and a strong technical mindset, combined with a genuine customer focus and high levels of personal integrity. While experience across every requirement is ideal, we encourage you to apply if you’re excited about the opportunity but don’t tick every box. Training and support will be provided, and your strengths, attitude and potential may be exactly what we’re looking for.

About Operations and Maintenance

Working in O&M means hands‑on, meaningful work running treatment plants, maintaining critical assets, responding to faults, and solving real‑world problems. Depending on the role, this may include rostered hours, on‑call responsibilities, or weekend work.

Be part of a safety‑first, people‑focused team where experience is valued, learning is supported, and everyone knows their work matters today and for the future of South Australia.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  •  Weekly plant inspections and data gathering / input
  • Routine plant maintenance (repair/service/calibration of plant equipment)
  • Responding to plant / equipment failures
  • The ordering and restocking of chemicals and other plant consumables
  • The monitoring of plant performance and optimisation of water treatment processes within set parameters / guidelines
  • Conduct daily operations in accordance with documented quality assured system procedures.
  • Input into development/improvement of quality system procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively to ensure team goals are achieved.

Your success in this role will come from:

  •  Ability to work under limited direction
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Be a team player and have a positive attitude
  • Have high attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • White Card
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Experience interacting with computer-based SCADA systems (desirable)
