About the role:

As a Category Officer in our Supply Chain Technology team, you will work closely with stakeholders across SA Water to manage supply performance and procurement activity for a wide range of ICT goods and services. From software licensing and digital platforms to hardware, telecommunications and emerging technologies, you’ll help ensure our technology investments deliver strong commercial value and support our digital future.

You’ll contribute to technology category planning, undertake detailed spend and market analysis, and support sourcing activities that strengthen our technology supply chain. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their procurement capability in a fast‑moving category while delivering meaningful outcomes for our people, customers and community.

You’ll help shape strategy, improve performance, and ensure decisions are informed, evidence‑based, and aligned to what matters most for South Australians.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Support technology category plans and contribute to market analysis, risk identification, identifying improvement opportunities across ICT sub‑categories.
  • Undertake end to end tender processes
  • Deliver category action items and lead defined elements of the Technology category plan and manage specific areas of ICT spend.
  • Manage supplier relationships that build productive relationships with technology vendors, service providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide procurement advice and support the business on licensing models, contract terms, renewals, and technology procurement requirements.
  • Deliver insights and reporting by analysing spend, benchmark performance and provide reporting that supports strategic decision‑making.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Demonstrated procurement and contracting experience with strong negotiation and supplier management capability.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Experience in undertaking end to end tender processes (using online sourcing platform is advantageous)
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship‑building, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Law, Commercial or similar (or MCIPS) are desirable but not essential.
