About the job

Due to internal movement, we have an exciting 12-month opportunity for a Communications Adviser to join our Communications team. As the voice of SA Water, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we connect with our people, customers, and communities across South Australia.

We’re seeking someone with a passion for crafting and delivering impactful communication. Your creativity and strategic thinking will help support our teams, build trust in our statewide services, and contribute to delivering reliable and sustainable water solutions every day.

About the person

The ideal candidate is a confident and creative communications professional with a passion for connecting people through impactful storytelling. They bring strong written and verbal communication skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects with ease. With experience in both proactive and reactive communications, they thrive in dynamic environments and are skilled at building trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. Their enthusiasm for collaboration and innovation makes them a valuable contributor to the team.

About Customer, Community and Engagement

The Customer, Community and Engagement group drives customer outcomes by delivering exceptional experiences and tailored solutions that grow business, revenue, and the state economy, while actively engaging with communities, and collecting valuable feedback.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Design and implement strategic communication plans and content to support business objectives.
  • Create and deliver engaging materials including copy, images, video, graphics, artwork, events, presentations, and speeches.
  • Provide advice on the most effective use of owned, earned, and paid channels.
  • Optimise content for internal and external audiences across multiple platforms.
  • Foster and facilitate the use of digital technologies that make communication and engagement efficient and effective, both within the business and with customers and the community.
  • Cultivate effective relationships and networks to proactively identify communication and engagement opportunities.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a communications practitioner, balancing proactive and reactive work.
  • Strong relationship building skills and the confidence to advise stakeholders and influence outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality work.
