About the job

This newly created Fleet Business Partner position plays a pivotal role in driving strategic fleet initiatives across SA Water, ensuring the delivery of safe, sustainable, and reliable fleet services. Working within the Supply Chain team and reporting to the team leader fleet, this position partners closely with business units to assess fleet needs, lead complex procurement and project activities and optimise asset performance. With a strong focus on compliance, innovation, and customer service, the role supports the development of centralised fleet solutions that align with SA Water’s operational and strategic goals. It’s a dynamic opportunity for someone with fleet expertise, business acumen, and a passion for continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate for the Fleet Business Partner role is a strategic thinker with strong business acumen and a passion for driving operational excellence. They bring substantial experience in fleet and contract management, with a proven ability to lead complex projects, deliver data driven insights, and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership. With a collaborative mindset and a forward-thinking approach, they are confident navigating legislative frameworks, identifying opportunities for innovation, and delivering customer-focused solutions that align with SA Water’s strategic goals.

About Business Insights and Excellence

The Business Insights and Excellence group drives operational excellence by enabling best business financial practices, economic pricing, supply chain management, and corporate governance and risk management to support the broader business and partners in delivering reliable, cost-effective, sustainable, and future-focused outcomes.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Lead and deliver high-risk, high-value fleet projects and procurement activities
  • Partner with business units to assess fleet needs and develop strategic solutions
  • Provide advice on fleet assets including light vehicles, heavy fleet, and boats
  • Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, reporting, and performance optimisation
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including HVNL, WHS, and Australian Road Rules
  • Develop and maintain fleet procedures, guidelines, and safety programs
  • Partner effectively with internal stakeholders and service providers as a strong collaborator, driving solution-focused outcomes for customers.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Project Management or related field
  • Strong business acumen and strategic decision-making capability
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including with senior leaders
  • Extensive experience in fleet or contract management, including performance analysis
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and asset optimisation
  • Knowledge of fleet-related legislation and compliance frameworks (desirable)
  • Experience with data analytics and reporting tools (desirable)
