About the job  

As Domain Architect – Integration & Platforms, this role is responsible for setting the strategic direction of SA Water’s integration and platform architecture, shaping the target state and roadmaps for the future and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards. Acting as a trusted advisor, they will engage with both technical and business stakeholders, reviewing documents, leading discussions, and translating complex ideas into clear models and diagrams that guide decision-making. They will oversee and support solution architects, providing governance and guidance to ensure consistency across designs, while also playing a key role in program delivery, procurement activities, and architectural governance forums.

About the Person

The ideal candidate is an experienced architect who combines solution architecture expertise with the ability to think strategically and shape long-term roadmaps. Experienced in thinking beyond single solutions, they bring the credibility to engage with both business and technical stakeholders, translating complex concepts into clear guidance and direction. They have a strong understanding of API-based integration within a large enterprise with many off-the-shelf products and understand the benefits of strategically selected platforms. They are recognised for their strong written, communication and presentation skills, their ability to create compelling diagrams and models, and their talent for influencing business stakeholders and technical experts. With a collaborative and coaching style, they guide solution architects and build capability across teams, while keeping a sharp eye on emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and future value. Experience with MuleSoft, Biztalk, Oracle ERP/OIC or Microsoft Azure would be seen as a plus.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • Shape and maintain the strategic architecture guidance for integration and application platforms.
  • Develop future-state roadmaps and transition architectures working closely with and contributing to our enterprise architecture team and frameworks.
  • Provide governance and guidance to solution architects, ensuring consistency across architectures.
  • Review documents, lead discussions, and create clear diagrams and models to support decision-making.
  • Partner with technical and business stakeholders to help develop and translate strategy into practical outcomes.
  • Monitor trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Contribute to program delivery, procurement activities, and architectural governance forums.
  • Partner with developers and technical leads to oversee the effective use of key platforms including MuleSoft, BizTalk, Oracle ERP/OIC, and Microsoft Azure.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Experience leading technology/domain strategy and architecting (including maintaining diagrams, documents and/or models for) technology/domain services including leading options analysis and technology selection.
  • Experience on large, complex programs (related to the domain) and working within large end-user organisations or those with complex technology architectures or infrastructure. 
  • Experience in developing and presenting strategic domain/technology guidance to a variety of (business and technical) stakeholders.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology, business or computer science and/or equivalent knowledge gained through a similar role and excellent written communication skills.
  • Relevant professional certification, tertiary studies or equivalent experience.
