About the job:

We are seeking a Field Sampler to collect and test water samples from various sources. These include drinking water (to comply with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines), environmental samples (for monitoring compliance), and wastewater (to meet compliance requirements and verify control processes). You will ensure all samples are collected, tested in the field, and delivered to the laboratory according to compliance, regulatory, and customer standards.

About Science and Strategy

The Science and Strategy group employs scientific approaches to address present and upcoming challenges. They execute a strategy driven by customer preferences to elevate the SA Water brand and position us for future success.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity include:

  • Collect samples like potable, waste, sewage, ground and environmental water, sludge and soils
  • Maintenance of all sampling and field equipment
  • Perform all required QC checks and collect required QC samples as requested
  • Arrange all field consumables and sampling equipment as required for each job
  • Contribute to reviewing sampling routes and sampling methods performed
  • Effective collaboration to ensure team goals are achieved
  • Maintaining a strong safety record, with a proactive, zero-incident approach to every task

Your success in this role will come from:

  • A current and valid driver’s licence at all times, 4WD experience is highly beneficial
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of field test monitoring equipment and field test methods
  • Displays high attention to detail and can implement a well organised and structured approach to field testing and data entry
  • High level oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with a variety of internal and external parties
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and other computer applications
  • Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Sampling/Science or equivalent technical qualification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working in water and waste water systems (advantageous)
  • Physically fit and capable of metro/regional and/or remote field work
  • A strong safety mindset and willingness to work as part of a high-performing team
