About the job
This role delivers planned and unplanned maintenance, as well as capital projects, on SA Water assets across the Berri workshop area (Riverland and Murray Lands). It is essential for maintaining and improving infrastructure to meet targets for availability, performance, cost, and risk, ensuring reliable customer services. The position applies trade‑based skills to assist with the installation, repair, maintenance, testing, modification, commissioning, and fault‑finding of plant, equipment, and materials.
About the Person
Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic mechanical tradesperson with expertise in maintenance, repairs, and infrastructure upgrades. They are proactive in ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency in their work while adhering to industry standards and best practices. With strong problem-solving abilities, they can analyse technical issues and implement effective solutions, working independently or collaboratively within a team.
They demonstrate a solid understanding of workplace health and safety, environmental considerations, and water quality procedures. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with proficiency in using computer-based maintenance management systems. Experience in managing small projects and mentoring apprentices is advantageous.
This role requires adaptability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work in varied environments, including remote locations, intrastate overnight travel, flexible hours, and on-call duties.
About Operations and Maintenance
The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater and River Murray activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.
