About the job

Join our team as a seasoned Electrical Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role in guiding our Corporation's Electrical Engineering team. Your extensive experience will be instrumental in offering technical guidance, conducting thorough investigations, and providing design recommendations aligned with water and wastewater standards. As a trusted advisor, you'll engage in audits and deliver insightful advisories on all facets of infrastructure, ensuring compliance and optimal performance.

This role extends beyond technical proficiency; it's about fostering collaboration and synergy among team members and external consultants. You'll excel in stakeholder management, cultivating robust relationships that facilitate seamless project execution. Your leadership will be pivotal in nurturing a cohesive team environment, empowering engineers at every level to excel. There are opportunities for honing technical skills by way of working with subject matter experts in all different disciplines of Engineering. There is a definite career growth for Senior Engineers in people management and technical leadership pathways.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Contribute effectively to the team ensuring efforts are aligned toward achieving team goals

  • Electrical, instrumentation and controls engineering design capability
  • Provide timely, accurate, appropriate, and adequate information and documentation to customers, with a focus on minimising delays and providing cost effective solutions.
  • Work effectively within all facets of electrical, instrumentation and control engineering within SA Water and with multi-disciplinary teams from our technical partners.
  • Ensure SA Water’s technical standards and guidelines are best for business solutions that meet Asset Management’s asset design life requirements, while providing cost effective, fit for purpose outcomes.
  • Determine suitability of new and emerging technologies and recommend they are adopted by the Corporation where benefits are identified.

 

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Tertiary Electrical, Instrumentation or Control Engineering qualification is essential
  • Recognised Chartered Engineer from Engineers Australia or prepared to work towards obtaining the registration
  • Post graduate qualifications and affiliation and recognition of discipline expertise by Engineers Australia
  • Detailed knowledge of Electrical, Instrumentation & Control engineering procedures and practices as applied to the water industry and/or large engineering organisations with recognised expertise as a Subject Matter Expert
  • Experience in the provision of novel, complex and critical investigations, options, concept and detailed design of Electrical, Instrumentation & Control projects
  • Experience in the utilisation and auditing of technical and infrastructure standards
