About the Role

Based at Berri, our Electrical Supervisor, will lead a team of ten electrical trades to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance and capital delivery of water and wastewater assets across the Riverland area, the wider Murray Darling Basin and other regions within South Australia as required. Your efforts will directly support customer expectations, encourage a high standard of work and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

About the person

Our Electrical Supervisor is a through and through people leader, you set the tone for how your team communicate and operate but most importantly, you keep safety front of mind on a daily basis. You come with prior experience in leading a small-medium sized technical team, or coupled with your technical expertise and strong EQ, you’ll be embracing this opportunity as your first leadership role. On a technical front, you are an expert on the tools and have the experience to guide, mentor and knowledge share with your team. You’ll bring a methodical and analytical mindset to the workplace as you navigate through operational problems and find solutions to enhance efficiency while upholding safety regulations. You will serve as a cultural custodian, fostering a sense of unity and teamwork each day. You recognize the importance of balancing hard work with moments to unwind and connect, helping to create an environment where collaboration and camaraderie thrive.

About Operations and Maintenance 

The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater and River Murray activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing the team to achieve operational and maintenance goals.
  • Driving safety leadership and compliance with WHS standards.
  • Delivering high-quality maintenance and capital project outcomes within budget, scope, and timelines.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership by being responsible for the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others (e.g., fit for work, compliance with safe systems).
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promoting innovation and continuous improvement in maintenance practices.
  • Ensuring all works are executed in accordance with technical, regulation, compliance, and customer requirements.
  • Role modelling corporate values and drive continuous improvement, culture change and greater staff engagement in the team.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Qualifications in engineering/trade or equivalent experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing maintenance execution teams.
  • Clear understanding of work strategy, planning, scheduling and execution of maintenance and capital delivery works.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing teams with focus on organisational constructive culture development.
  • Extensive experience in the management of safety and risk.
  • Knowledge of and practical experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives, leading and communicating changes.
  • Experience in water/wastewater operation, maintenance and project delivery.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license. (Essential)
