About the job

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Trade Waste Sampling & Monitoring Officer to join our Operations Maintenance team within the Production & Treatment Business Unit. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality trade waste sampling and monitoring services, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining strong customer relationships.

About Operations and Maintenance

The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater and River Murray activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

  • Performing sampling services safely and in line with established standards and procedures.
  • Ensuring sampling activities accurately reflect customer requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining accurate chain-of-custody records for sampling services.
  • Managing and efficiently planning sampling workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Providing timely responses to trade waste compliance emergencies.
  • Assisting with trade waste compliance support tasks.
  • Monitoring and maintaining portable monitoring devices, including installation and calibration.
  • Ensuring sampling and monitoring services align with customer expectations.
  • Collaborating with the trade waste compliance team to address non-compliance issues.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with customers on technical matters, such as technical services, quotes, and safety documentation.
  • Sound understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of trade waste and wastewater sampling methods, including relevant analytical test methods and sample preservation requirements is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of 12-volt instrumentation/electronics is desirable.
  • Qualifications in traffic management and confined space entry is desirable.
  • Willing to obtain Hepatitis A, B and Q Fever vaccinations.
