About the job:

The Asset Data Management Specialist supports the development and delivery of high‑quality asset data for SA Water’s GIS asset register, driving data quality improvements and ensuring asset information systems function effectively. The role partners with stakeholders across the business to understand data needs, identify gaps, and help design solutions that enhance the accuracy, reliability and usability of infrastructure asset data.

About the person:

The ideal person for this role is analytical, curious, and highly attentive to detail, with a genuine interest in improving the quality and reliability of asset data. They bring strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across technical and operational areas. They are comfortable navigating complex information systems, learning new tools, and applying structured problem‑solving to data challenges. They take ownership of their work, contribute proactively to continuous improvement, and are motivated by supporting sound decision‑making through accurate, well‑managed asset information.

About Sustainable Infrastructure

The Sustainable Infrastructure group is dedicated to maximising value for customers and the community by developing innovative and optimised infrastructure plans, and overseeing the planning, construction, delivery, and maintenance of water and sewerage assets across the state and business.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting planning activities that ensure asset data and information meet agreed levels of service.
  • Contributing subject matter expertise in asset data architecture, models and metadata.
  • Developing technical capability in systems of record such as ESRI, Maximo, SQL, Python or AutoCAD (depending on focus area).
  • Supporting data profiling, quality monitoring, and the design of data quality improvement solutions.
  • Contributing to governance, compliance and continuous improvement of corporate asset registers and information systems.
  • Providing guidance, training and support to staff and contractors involved in asset data creation and management.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Qualifications in information systems, data management or a related discipline (essential).
  • Experience in data and information management (desirable).
  • Skills in ESRI, Python, SQL, Maximo or AutoCAD (desirable and dependent on focus area).
  • Experience in process design or automation (desirable).
  • The ability to work collaboratively, solve problems, and contribute to continuous improvement.
