About the job  

The Business Support Officer plays a vital role in ensuring smooth business operations and supporting the delivery of people-focused services across SA Water. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation, the Business Support Officer provides high-quality administrative and operational support, enabling the broader People & Safety group to thrive.

From managing team inboxes and SharePoint sites to organising travel, coordinating meetings, maintaining pool vehicles, and assisting with procurement processes, this role offers a varied and rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys being the go-to person behind the scenes.

About the Person

The successful candidate will be a capable and efficient administrator with a strong customer service mindset. They will bring experience in business support or operational coordination, and be comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. With a keen eye for detail, they will take pride in delivering accurate work and building positive working relationships with internal teams and external partners alike.

They will be highly organised, self-motivated, and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with a collaborative approach and commitment to supporting others. Experience using records management systems and procurement processes will be highly regarded.

About People and Safety

The People and Safety group are focused on ensuring workforce well-being and success through strategies such as talent attraction, diversity, and collaboration, while also prioritising health and safety efforts to prevent harm and promote overall well-being and career development.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Reporting to the Program Manager People and Safety Optimisation, you will foster trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensures we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  •  Provide administrative support to the People & Safety team, including scheduling, catering, and travel arrangements.
  • Maintain internal systems such as records management and SharePoint.
  • Manage procurement tasks such as creating purchase requests and resolving accounts queries.
  • Prepare agendas, take minutes, and distribute mail and internal communications.
  • Support project coordination and reporting activities.
  • Assist in responding to inbox enquiries and actioning requests in a timely manner.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Experience in prioritising workloads to meet required timeframes.
  • High level of integrity and regard for confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing support services with the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary group under limited supervision.
  • Experience with Outlook, MS Teams, Webex, RIVER, internal SA Water systems/Intranet is desirable.
