About the job

Based at our Lonsdale site, you’ll provide specialist support across customer metering, smart meter technologies, network investigations, and field services to help deliver reliable, high‑quality water services. you’ll investigate water supply issues, support smart meter installations and fault resolution, conduct flow and pressure testing, and contribute to leakage and pressure management initiatives. You’ll also maintain accurate metering records, assist with compliance activities, and support trials of new metering technologies.

About the person

The ideal person for this role is technically minded, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and in the field. You bring strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, along with the ability to communicate clearly with customers and internal stakeholders. You take pride in delivering high‑quality work, can manage competing priorities, and remain calm when troubleshooting complex metering or network issues. A background in electrical or electronics work will be highly regarded, as will your commitment to safety, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new technologies and systems.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • Working within a team environment while being self-managed to achieve organisational goals/ KPI’s when undertaking the daily schedule of work.
  • Take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others while in accordance with WHS procedures.
  • Provide support to the business/customers for the installation and fault management of smart meters.
  • Conduct water mains flow testing for fire service applications/requirements, network analysis and operations.
  • Ensure the effective management of metered hydrant issue, repair and audit processes.
  • Pressure monitoring including storage, allocation, installation, fault finding, battery replacement and removal of pressure monitoring devices.
  • Transportation water meter validations to ensure compliance with DEW.
  • Ongoing evaluation of new technologies that may improve efficiency of data collection and analysis to enhance customer experience.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Formal qualification or demonstrated experience in metering, and water network operations or Electronics and Communication (Certificate III).
  • Demonstrated expertise in smart metering principles including smart meter technologies, installation, fault finding and flow/master meters.
  • Experience in water pressure monitoring including installation, configuration and knowledge of water networks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fire service standards and operation.
  • Knowledge in use of Maximo 7, CSIS and Aqua map.
  • Proven ability to deliver objectives while operating under limited direction/supervision while being self-managed and in a team environment.
  • High level analytical skills and customer relation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint.
