About the job

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Reticulation Networks Wastewater Specialist to provide a comprehensive range of specialised technical advisory services in the investigation, design, and auditing of wastewater networks. This is a pivotal role that ensures the integrity, efficiency, and sustainability of critical infrastructure.

About the Person

You are a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise and a passion for delivering sustainable solutions. You thrive on solving complex challenges and have a proven ability to lead projects from concept to completion. Collaboration is second nature to you, and you can communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, across several teams including our Growth department.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Deliver efficient and responsive investigation, concept design, and design auditing services for wastewater reticulation networks, ensuring compliance with SA Water and WSAA standards.
  • Champion the Safety in Design (SiD) process and uphold WHS responsibilities, prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of yourself, colleagues, and the community.
  • Review consultant designs, recommend accreditation ratings, and ensure adherence to quality assurance and technical standards.
  • Provide timely, accurate technical advice and documentation to internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and service excellence.
  • Support a collaborative culture by mentoring team members, sharing expertise, and contributing to a high-performing, “Can Do” environment.
  • Maintain and improve internal procedures, contribute to the development of new technologies, and represent SA Water on relevant industry committees.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • A relevant technical qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in technical procedures for water or wastewater collection systems, including hydraulic calculations and pump station design.
  • Strong understanding of planning and detailed design processes, standards, and technologies.
  • Familiarity with SA Water’s water and wastewater assets, technical standards, standard drawings, and guidelines.
  • Experience using drawing management systems and reviewing water/wastewater design submissions.
  • Ability to prepare AutoCAD and ArcGIS plans to illustrate existing infrastructure and proposed extensions.
  • Knowledge of SA Water policies and procedures for assets (e.g., LPSS, vacuum sewer) and network construction techniques (e.g., trenchless technologies).
