About the job  

As Manager Business Improvement, you will embed process management discipline and leverage process assets to drive ongoing business improvement opportunities with a focus on business value. You will align SA Water’s business process architecture with enterprise capabilities, establish governance and continuous improvement standards, and oversee both business improvement and process architecture practices to enhance organisational efficiency.

Your work will include designing, modelling, and optimising processes to support agile delivery of strategic goals, while leading a team that collaborates with technology and other programs to deliver transformation projects. You will engage with stakeholders at all levels, including senior managers, in a large and complex organisation.

ARIS is our primary enterprise process repository, and experience in implementing corporate process management disciplines within such environments is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate is a confident leader with exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. They bring strong people skills and a collaborative approach, inspiring trust and taking others on the transformation journey. With proven experience in implementing corporate process management disciplines and familiarity with enterprise process repositories such as ARIS, they are passionate about building capability in true business process modelling using standardised approaches. They demonstrate coaching and mentoring expertise to develop both their team and the broader organisation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and process excellence.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • Lead the strategic alignment of SA Water’s business process architecture framework with enterprise capabilities.
  • Establish and embed process management discipline and governance across the organisation.
  • Manage and mentor a high-performing team, empowering them to take ownership and achieve outcomes.
  • Discover, design/redesign, model, and conduct process impact analysis to optimise processes.
  • Drive the creation of a valuable asset in process management capability and supporting infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with technology and other programs to deliver transformation projects.
  • Foster a process community of practice and advocate for standardised modelling and annotation.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Appropriate Business/Process Improvement qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
  • Appropriate Business Process Architecture qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in successful design and implementation of complex Business Improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build ongoing positive and constructive relationships with key stakeholders. This should include a leadership style that influences stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of organisational issues and challenges.
  • Well-developed analytical skills including the ability to analyse, conceptualise and communicate complex data and corporate information. 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a high performing team of specialists.
  • Proven capability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations and consistently meet tight deadlines.
