About the job

As the Fleet Business Partner, you will drive strategic fleet initiatives across SA Water by delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient fleet services aligned with organisational objectives. The role requires a strong heavy fleet management background, with expertise in fleet operations, asset lifecycle management, procurement, contractor performance, compliance, and project delivery. Working closely with business units and senior stakeholders, you will use data-driven insights and commercial acumen to optimise fleet performance, lead innovative fleet solutions, and support continuous improvement while ensuring a high standard of customer service and operational excellence.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Lead and deliver high-risk, high-value fleet projects and procurement activities
  • Partner with business units to assess fleet needs and develop strategic solutions
  • Provide expert advice on fleet assets including light vehicles, heavy fleet, and boats
  • Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, reporting, and performance optimisation
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including HVNL, WHS, and Australian Road Rules
  • Develop and maintain fleet procedures, guidelines, and safety programs
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and service providers to deliver customer-focused outcomes

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Project Management or related field
  • Strong business acumen and strategic decision-making capability
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including with senior leaders
  • Extensive experience in fleet or contract management, including performance analysis
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and asset optimisation
  • Proven experience applying the National Heavy Vehicle Law (NHVL) and related legislation, with demonstrated experience applying compliance, safety, and regulatory requirements within large, complex organisations (Essential)
  • Experience with data analytics and reporting tools (desirable)
