About the job  

Help shape the conversations, decisions and government engagement that support South Australia's future growth. As the Growth Strategic Communications Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering the Ministerial, Parliamentary and Executive communications that underpin major infrastructure, development and investment outcomes across the state.

Working closely with senior leaders, government stakeholders and subject matter experts, you'll research, develop and coordinate complex Ministerial and Parliamentary briefings, Ministerial responses, Executive briefings and Board papers on high-profile and often politically sensitive matters.

You'll transform technical information into clear, evidence-based communications that influence decision-making, support government engagement and help drive strategic outcomes across SA Water's Growth Group. From supporting major land development initiatives through targeted messaging to leading the next phase of an AI-enabled communications project, this is an opportunity to work on meaningful, visible tasks that directly contributes to South Australia's growth and future prosperity 

About the Person

You're an exceptional writer and strategic communicator with proven experience preparing complex Ministerial and Parliamentary briefings, Executive papers, Board submissions and other high-profile communications.

You have a strong understanding of government processes, political environments and stakeholder dynamics, and can confidently coordinate information and approvals across multiple stakeholders while delivering high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines. Highly organised and adaptable, you're comfortable managing competing priorities and tackling sensitive or complex issues with professionalism and sound judgement.

A natural collaborator, you're equally passionate about continuous improvement and leveraging technology, including AI, to enhance the way strategic communications are developed and delivered.

By combining expertise, innovation, and strong relationships, the team delivers smarter solutions that support South Australia’s growth now and for generations to come.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

• Author researched, accurate and timely Ministerial and Parliamentary briefing material, executive requests, Executive and Board papers, and internal and external communications. 
• Coordinate information from Growth Group subject matter experts to ensure materials are accurate, evidence-based while adhering to strict timelines and political sensitivities. 
• Provide strategic communications advice and support to senior leaders on sensitive, complex and high-profile issues. 
• Work collaboratively with Government Relations, senior leaders and other stakeholders to ensure materials meet organisational requirements and approval timeframes. 
• Work closely with the Growth Group Senior Leadership team and Government Relations to identify, prioritise and coordinate strategic communication, briefing and reporting requirements. 

Your success in this role will come from: 

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field. 
• Demonstrated excellence in written strategic communication, including the preparation of complex Ministerial and Parliamentary briefings, Executive briefings, Board papers and high-profile external communications. 
• High level of political awareness and understanding of government processes and stakeholder dynamics. 
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines. 
• Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality with a high level of discretion. 
• Committed to continuous improvement and exploring technology to enhance business results. 
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate information and approvals from multiple stakeholders within strict deadlines.
