About the job  

The Injury and Claims Management Specialist is responsible for managing a portfolio of workers’ compensation claims end‑to‑end, operating with a high level of autonomy while ensuring strict compliance with legislative requirements, internal policies, and Self‑Insurance Performance Standards. The role requires strong prioritisation skills to manage competing demands and meet both statutory and internally set timeframes in a highly regulated environment.

The position will play a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with internal stakeholders and regulators, the role ensures strong governance, audit readiness, and sustainable return‑to‑work outcomes.

This ongoing, part-time (0.8FTE) opportunity is available immediately. 

About the Person

The ideal candidate will be a process‑focused claims professional with demonstrated experience in workers’ compensation and injury management, ideally within a self‑insured environment. They bring a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and understand the importance of compliance, governance, and audit integrity. Confident managing competing priorities, they are able to organise their day based on urgency, risk, and compliance activity while consistently meeting legislative, internal and stakeholder requirements.

They are adaptable in their communication style, able to confidently engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders and tailor messages to varying levels of the organisation. A practical and hands‑on team player, they are willing to roll up their sleeves and support broader team objectives when required.

About People and Safety

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • End-to-end management of a portfolio of worker’s compensation claims & Self-Insurance requirements
  • Leading injury management, early intervention and return-to-work initiatives.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Return to Work Act 2014 (SA) and Self-Insurance Performance Standards.
  • Preparing for, responding to, and embedding outcomes from internal and external audits, including Return to Work SA audits.
  • Contribute to corrective action planning and continuous improvement initiatives following audit activity.
  • Supporting leaders and internal stakeholders with expert advice on injury and claims management.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Extensive experience in workers compensation, claims management, and injury management, preferable in a self-insurance environment.
  • Strong understanding of the Return to work Act 2014 (SA), WHS Act and Self Insurance Performance Standards.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement capability.
  • Excellent communication and people skills. Qualification in Injury
  • Management, WHS, HR or a related field, and/or relevant certifications such as Certificate IV in Personal Injury Management, Training and Assessment, mediation/dispute resolution, or Return to Work Coordination is desirable.
