About the job:

SA Water is seeking an experienced leader to drive the planning, development, and implementation of Asset Management Plans and Approaches for our Wastewater (WW) and Recycled Water (RW) assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a collaborative, safety-first culture by coaching, challenging, and developing team members, while fostering future leadership capability.
  • Deliver strategic objectives for Wastewater (WW) and Recycled Water (RW) assets, incorporating demand forecasting and robust asset strategies.
  • Use data-driven tools to evaluate and prioritise asset interventions, developing Asset Management Plans that optimise performance, cost, and risk.
  • Manage Asset Investment Programs to ensure efficient capital deployment and write compelling, evidence-based business cases for timely investment.
  • Ensure seamless integration of asset planning with broader business functions, delivering fit-for-purpose outputs for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive implementation of Asset Management Plans across the full asset lifecycle—operation, maintenance, optimisation, and rationalisation—while proactively managing risks and performance.
  • Define asset information needs, ensure effective data use for decision-making, and support external inquiries with timely, accurate information.

About the Person

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who can think at both strategic and detailed levels, with a passion for asset management and delivering customer-focused outcomes. You’ll thrive in a dynamic environment and bring a strong mix of technical expertise, leadership capability, and strategic foresight. Additional requirements are:

  • Holds qualifications in Engineering, Science, or Asset Management, with deep knowledge of asset management principles and infrastructure assets in water or wastewater systems.
  • Proven experience in leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams in dynamic environments, with a strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to fostering a culture of safety, respect, and positive team behaviours.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences and produce high-quality reports.
  • Strong understanding of modern risk management frameworks and tools, with sound analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex challenges.
  • Ability to deliver innovative, customer-centric solutions that align with organisational goals and service expectations.
  • Experienced in using PowerBI (or similar tools) for data insights and applying agile work methods such as Kanban or Lean.
