About the job  

Our Engineering team are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join the experienced group, based in Adelaide. Provide expert support, including high level technical investigation, design, review, systems development, auditing and advisory services. Your work will cover all aspects of water and wastewater standards and infrastructure, ensuring compliance, innovation, and excellence in our projects.

The Sustainable Infrastructure group is dedicated to maximising value for customers and the community by developing innovative and optimised infrastructure plans, and overseeing the planning, construction, delivery, and maintenance of water and sewerage assets across the state and business.

About the Person

The Senior Civil Engineer supports SA water in delivering capital and non-capital projects, which includes but not limited to pump stations, pressure pipelines, gravity sewer, dams/EBS and water/wastewater treatment plants. If you have a strong background in civil and pipeline engineering and a passion for contributing to cutting-edge infrastructure solutions, we encourage you to apply! Additional responsibilities include:

  • Offer assistance in Civil, Hydraulics and Pipeline engineering disciplines across the Corporation.
  • Providing technical support on Safety in Design (SiD) matters for the Civil discipline.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineers to support the technical development of the Engineering team.
  • Support the Principal Engineer, Civil with the review and update of SA Water’s technical standards and guidelines
  • Determine suitability of new and emerging technologies and how they can be adopted, when benefits are identified.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Have obtained a Tertiary Civil Engineering qualification.
  • Extensive knowledge of Civil, hydraulics and pipelines engineering procedures and practices and how this applies to the water industry and large engineering organisations.
  • Proven experience of investigation, option, concept and detailed design of infrastructure associated with the water industry.
  • Have prior experience mentoring junior civil engineer team members.
  • Demonstrated experience in the execution of novel, complex and critical engineering investigations and designs in the Civil discipline.
  • Having a post graduate qualification and an affiliation and recognition (CPEng) of discipline expertise by Engineers Australia is highly desirable.
