About the job:

SA Water is seeking a skilled professional to lead the planning, development, and implementation of Asset Management Plans and Approaches for our Regional Water Systems & Facilities.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and inspire a collaborative, safety-first team culture focused on protecting and creating value through effective asset management.
  • Provide clear strategic direction for future asset requirements, including demand forecasting and the development of robust asset approaches for Water Systems and Facilities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritise asset options to develop and maintain comprehensive Asset Management Plans that optimise performance, cost, and risk.
  • Develop robust asset business cases to support regulatory planning.
  • Oversee the implementation of Asset Management Plans through the full asset lifecycle—operation, maintenance, optimisation, and rationalisation.
  • Proactively manage asset-related risks, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement to ensure service levels are met and exceeded.
  • Define and manage asset information needs, ensuring data is effectively gathered, studied, and applied to support informed asset management findings.

About the Person

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and collaborative leader with a passion for asset management and delivering customer-focused outcomes. You’ll thrive in a dynamic environment and bring a strong mix of technical expertise, guidance capability, and strategic foresight. Additional requirements are:

  • Qualifications in Engineering, Science, Asset Management, or a trade-based discipline, with a strong understanding of asset management standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing teams within dynamic and evolving environments, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt to diverse communication styles.
  • Strong understanding of modern risk management practices, tools, and frameworks.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality reports and communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
  • Sound investigative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and deliver innovative, customer-focused solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge of infrastructure assets in water including maintenance and operational activities.
