About the job  

Reporting to the Lead Engineer Reticulation, you will provide technical advisory services for the planning, investigation, design, and auditing of reticulation network infrastructure. You will work closely with consultants, developers, and internal stakeholders to ensure quality outcomes, compliance with standards, and the adoption of innovative engineering solutions.

The Sustainable Infrastructure group is dedicated to maximising value for customers and the community by developing innovative and optimised infrastructure plans, and overseeing the planning, construction, delivery, and maintenance of water and sewerage assets across the state and business.

About you

You are a collaborative and technically capable professional who can confidently provide expert advice, influence stakeholders, and deliver high-quality engineering outcomes. You enjoy working across multiple projects and thrive in an environment focused on continuous improvement and customer service.

You will: 

  • Provide specialist technical advice and support for the investigation, concept design, design review, and auditing of water, wastewater, and recycled water networks.
  • Assess, accredit, and manage external consultant performance, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and design standards.
  • Support the development and ongoing review of network infrastructure standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ensure "Safety in Design" principles are embedded within engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with internal business units, developers, consultants, and industry stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Identify and implement innovative technologies and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery and operational performance.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • A Technical Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Infrastructure, or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of water, wastewater, or recycled water network infrastructure and associated engineering principles.
  • Experience reviewing technical designs, specifications, standards, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing technical team while mentoring and supporting colleagues.
  • Knowledge of SA Water’s network infrastructure would be highly regarded.
