About the job  

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Advisor to support the implementation and ongoing integration of Sustainability by Design (SubD) across the organisation and Capital Delivery portfolio. Actively contribute to capital delivery activities to embed, monitor and enhance the effectiveness of SubD processes and outcomes, ensuring projects deliver strong, sustainable customer outcomes. Being part of the Sustainability by Design team that support the business in both sustainability and Safety in Design (SiD)

About the Person

You are a sustainability professional with experience working in design and capital delivery environments. You bring a strong understanding of Sustainability by Design principles and how they can be practically applied across capital projects to deliver meaningful customer and environmental outcomes. Understanding of WHS Legislation and safety in design principals would be advantageous.

You are comfortable working collaboratively with project managers, designers, engineers and delivery partners, and you can influence outcomes without direct authority.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Support the consistent application of Sustainability and Safety in Design principles across Asset Planning, Definition and Capital Delivery phases, ensuring safe, sustainable and high‑quality design outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of SubD processes, tools and techniques, identifying opportunities for efficiency, innovation and improved integration across the business.
  • Model organisational values and behaviours, promote safety and sustainability above all else, and drive increased awareness of Sustainability and Safety in Design across the organisation
  • Support the Lead – Sustainability by Design by providing advice, education and guidance on processes, sustainability regulatory requirements and emerging industry trends.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and business partners, supporting them to understand and meet their responsibilities for sustainable, and ensuring SubD has a visible and trusted presence across business groups.
  • Assist with monitoring and auditing SubD processes, facilitate workshops, and support monthly and periodic reporting requirements to track performance and outcomes.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive demonstrated experience in a related field
  • Proven experience working within capital delivery and design processes, ideally across multiple project phases
  • Demonstrated capability in applying Sustainability by Design and preferably exposure to Safety in Design principles, systems and processes within a project or asset environment
  • Working knowledge of relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation would be advantageous
  • Experience facilitating workshops and delivering training or education sessions
  • Demonstrated experience in internal auditing or assurance activities
  • Experience applying multi‑criteria assessment and risk management strategies
  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder engagement and business partnering / influencing skills
