About the job

In this role as a Wastewater Treatment Coordinator (Central South) you will be responsible for leading the efficient, cost-effective, and reliable operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants as well as recycled water schemes.

The role ensures compliance with environmental, public health, and performance standards while managing operations, asset maintenance, and contractor performance. It also involves collaborating with stakeholders to enhance operational procedures and safety standards, driving continuous improvement, and providing input into capital projects.

About Operations and Maintenance

The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater and River Murray activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

  • Demonstrate organisational compliance
  • Ensure the team works collaboratively and safely toward achieving their goals
  • Develop and implement operational guidelines for wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and recycled water schemes.
  • Ensure treatment operations adhere to license conditions and Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements.
  • Maintenance and Operational Asset Management
  • Conduct daily operations in accordance with Quality Management Systems
  • Input into development and improvement of management systems procedures
  • Identify and implement improvements in plant performance in collaboration with technical support.
  • Liaise with workshops and contractors to organise corrective maintenance of plants and equipment

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in a Science or Engineering based discipline or relevant experience
  • Trouble shooting or fault finding of treatment operations
  • Ability to effectively plan and coordinate work done by a range of service providers either individually or through an integrated team approach
  • Ability to analyse complex technical operational problems and determine appropriate solutions - Desirable
  • Ability to develop and lead a cooperative working environment both amongst direct reports and service providers to achieve business KPIs
  • Experience in quality systems, planning, organising and supervising treatment operations - Desirable
