About the job  

We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Compliance Specialist to join our Corporate Governance, Risk and Resilience team. 

Reporting to the Corporate Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining SA Water's compliance framework and supporting a strong culture of integrity across the organisation. You will provide expert advice, lead compliance investigations, monitor compliance obligations, support regulatory engagements, and help ensure legal and corporate requirements are effectively managed. 

Working closely with leaders and stakeholders across the business, you will contribute to regulatory reporting and identify opportunities to strengthen compliance systems, processes and organisational capability. This is an opportunity to influence business decisions and help drive continuous improvement across an essential service provider. 

This position is part-time at 0.6 until October 2027.

About the Person

You are an analytical and proactive compliance professional with experience operating in a regulatory, governance, risk, assurance or compliance environment. You can interpret complex legislation and requirements, provide practical advice, and communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders. 

With strong interpersonal skills and a solutions-focused approach, you build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation. You are comfortable engaging with senior leaders, regulators and operational teams, and have exposure to risk and assurance activities. You thrive in complex environments, can manage competing priorities, and maintain a strong focus on detail while supporting sound compliance and governance outcomes.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • Assist SA Water to understand its compliance obligations and to ensure that processes are in place to manage the assignment of compliance responsibilities, monitoring and reporting against those obligations. 
  • Monitor SA Water’s compliance performance and the effectiveness of systems/processes across SA Water to proactively identify any systemic issues or trends. 
  • In conjunction with relevant business units, support the timely and accurate reporting of compliance performance and information to regulators, customers and stakeholders. 
  • Provide high level advice and support to internal and external stakeholders in relation to compliance obligations and processes.
  • Use insights from incidents and regulatory feedback to enhance compliance frameworks, policies, training programs and organisational capability, ensuring continuous uplift in compliance maturity. 

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Tertiary qualification in law/commerce/governance or relevant equivalent experience (compliance) 
  • Knowledge and expertise in working in a regulatory, governance, assurance or compliance environment 
  • Demonstrated analytical capability and ability to prepare reports and convey complex information in written or other forms 
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, including a demonstrated to build productive relationships with senior managers and external stakeholders 
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meeting rapidly changing priorities with limited direction 
  • Demonstrated experience in compliance systems including high digital skill proficiency
