About the job  

We’re seeking a curious, confident, and business-minded Data and Insights Analyst to help turn our operational data into action. You will transform complex data into clear insights that guide conversations and influence decisions, and uncover genuine opportunities for improvement across Operations & Maintenance and greater SA Water.

This isn’t your standard desk job - expect to collaborate with field teams, planners, and executives from across the business, build their trust, solve problems, and make our data meaningful. About Operations and Maintenance 

The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater and River Murray activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • Develop insightful dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI and SQL.
  • Lead and support operational, regulatory, and internal performance reporting requests.
  • Engage with stakeholders to clarify needs, priorities, and performance reporting gaps.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to access and manage operational data across platforms.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data quality, reporting processes, and system integration.
  • Present findings to business leaders and operational teams in ways that drive action.
  • Provide hands-on support and training for field and operations staff to improve how data is collected, interpreted, and used.

Your success in this role will come from: 

Bring value through your knack of interpreting complex data and translating it into accessible insights, as well as your ability to excel in fast‑paced settings while balancing competing priorities. You think on your feet, navigate ambiguity with confidence, and communicate with influence to support sound business decisions. Your proactive, improvement‑focused mindset and enthusiasm for change are essential. Background in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar disciplines, and experience with performance metrics.

  • Experience in Power BI and SQL queries, and familiarity with other tools and software such as PI AF, Python, R, Grafana, and Cappture.
  • Experience working in operational environments would be a benefit
