About the Company

SA Water is a successful, modern water utility wholly owned by the Government of South Australia. We employ more than 1,700 people across a broad range of disciplines who operate more than $14 billion worth of infrastructure to deliver essential water and sewerage services to more than 1.8 million South Australians.

We operate in a geographically and climatically diverse service area, with sites and locations from Ceduna through to Port Augusta, the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands, across to the Riverland, down to Mount Gambier, and most places in between.

Our strength and expertise have been shaped by our history. For more than 165 years, South Australians have depended on us to innovate and deliver efficient and sustainable water services. With nationally and internationally recognised industry expertise, we’re focused on understanding and meeting our customers’ expectations.

As well as safely delivering smart and reliable services for our customers of today, we innovate to shape the water solutions of the future that will support thriving economies and healthy communities.

We are driven by our values; we value our people, we do work that matters, we keep it real, we know that our work has impact, and we are future focussed. Staying true to our values ensures that we consistently deliver positive outcomes for all South Australians.

About the job

As a Delivery Risk and Assurance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of SA Water’s technology projects and programs. Positioned within the Technology Portfolio Management Office, you will use your expert knowledge to assess and support delivery performance, provide assurance on key project and program milestones, and guide value realisation across our technology portfolio. By championing best practices in risk management, governance, and project quality, you will influence the consistent delivery of business outcomes while working collaboratively with project managers and senior stakeholders.

This role will suit someone who thrives in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment and who brings a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to risk assurance and delivery excellence.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent project and program reviews, health checks, and delivery assurance activities.
  • Evaluating quality standards and ensuring delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and value expectations.
  • Collaborating closely with risk and project leads to identify, assess and manage delivery risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Providing guidance and coaching to project managers, coordinators, and other delivery professionals to uplift delivery capability.
  • Supporting clear, accurate reporting on project status, risks, and progress to senior stakeholders.
  • Recommending and implementing improvements in governance processes and assurance methodologies.
  • Contributing to the maturity of SA Water’s delivery practices by embedding lessons learned and aligning with best practice frameworks.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Demonstrated experience managing and reviewing large-scale, complex business or technology projects, with the ability to assess delivery performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to influence and build strong relationships with senior leaders, project sponsors, and cross-functional teams to drive alignment and collaboration.
  • Sound knowledge of project management and delivery methodologies—including Agile and traditional approaches—and the judgment to apply them effectively in diverse delivery environments.
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical skills with a focus on performance, data and generating insights, and the ability to turn those insights into practical improvements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills that support effective stakeholder engagement across varied audiences.
  • Formal qualifications in business, project management or a related discipline, and experience in risk, audit, or quality assurance will be highly regarded.
