About the job  

The Growth Intelligence - Analytics and AI Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping how data insights and AI are used to drive smarter decision-making across Growth. Leading a small team of data experts and contractors, this role will work as a Data Product Owner and is responsible for delivering high-quality analytics, building strong data foundations and enabling scalable, AI driven solutions.  

Acting as the key interface between our transformation partner and internal teams, you’ll ensure initiatives are grounded in our data environment and aligned to business priorities.  

This is a hands-on leadership role focused on simplifying complexity, automating processes, accelerating data product delivery and embedding efficient repeatable ways of working that create real impact.  

This is a max-term opportunity until June 2027.

You’re a pragmatic and curious leader who understands how data and analytics come together in practice. With a strong background in analytics, reporting, data engineering, you’re comfortable navigating complex environments and translating between technical teams and business stakeholders.  

You don’t need to be an AI expert, but you have genuine interest in its potential and how it can be applied to solve real problems. You led from the front, bringing others with you, and are driven by improving how things work, whether that through automation, improve processes or deliver continuous value through smarter use of insights.  

You’re equally comfortable setting direction and rolling up your sleeves to make it happen.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • Lead, mentor, coach, guide the team to deliver data driven insights faster. 
  • Ensure the intelligence analysts, contractors and other personnel within the team achieve business objectives and goals within agreed timeframes. 
  • Provide timely guidance, feedback, coaching and training to help team members strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the maturity of domain data modelling, Growth Intelligence and Transformation.  
  • Review and determine suitability of new, and emerging AI technology, solutions/algorithms/models and recommend being adopted by the Growth Group. 
  • Collaborate with teams across Growth, Planning, Systems, Customer and Technology to support integrated planning and intelligence data product delivery. 

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Tertiary qualification in Data, AI, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the implementation of data solutions that align with business objectives. 
  • Effective communication and people skills including an ability to collaborate to deliver improved business outcomes.
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Azure, Collibra, Microsoft SQL, data integration, data modelling, and data architecture.  
  • Ability to lead the team manage multiple tasks and deadlines within a continuously improving organization.
