About the job  

SA Water is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Development Officer to join our Major Development Services team for a 12-month maximum term opportunity. As a Senior Development Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of infrastructure solutions for South Australia’s largest land development projects. Working closely with Account Managers and the Team Leader, you’ll manage the end-to-end process of development applications from initial inquiry through to asset recording and customer onboarding. This role is central to enhancing the developer experience, resolving complex issues, and maintaining strong relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders. It’s a fast-paced, customer-focused environment where your expertise will help shape the future of SA Water’s land development services.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • Provide high level business and technical administration support to Account Managers.
  • Guide Development Services Officers and ensure seamless processing of development applications.
  • Resolve complex customer issues and maintain strong industry relationships.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and customer-focused service across all touchpoints.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help enhance the developer experience.

About you

You’re a confident and experienced professional with a strong background in business administration and customer service. You thrive in collaborative settings, communicate with clarity, and bring a proactive mindset to problem-solving and continuous improvement. Your attention to detail and ability to manage complex processes make you a trusted resource for both colleagues and customers. Ideally, you have knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure, relevant legislation, and a passion for delivering high-quality service in a dynamic environment. Whether guiding team members or liaising with developers, you bring professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to excellence.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Proven experience delivering high-quality business and technical administration support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including professional telephone techniques and written communication.
  • Strong proficiency in data-based computer systems and digital workflows
  • Ability to manage complex or contentious customer issues with confidence and professionalism
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on team success and stakeholder engagement.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation
  • Post-secondary qualifications in customer service or business administration (desirable)
  • Understanding of water and wastewater design principles and infrastructure (desirable)
  • Familiarity with waterworks and sewerage legislation, Development Act, and Community Title legislation (desirable)
  • White Card (Induction to Construction Work) or willingness to obtain (desirable)
