About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team and provide high-level technical expertise across a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

As a senior practitioner, you will act as a subject matter expert within the Corporation, offering advanced geotechnical support and guidance. • A strong commitment to Work Health and Safety (WHS), including the ability to lead by example, drive a safety-first culture, and apply WHS responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering service providers and operations staff, to deliver timely, fit-for-purpose, and value-adding technical solutions.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, with a collaborative approach that supports knowledge sharing, capability development, and the achievement of business partner outcomes.
  • Ability to identify and evaluate new and emerging geotechnical technologies and practices, contributing to the ongoing development of SA Water’s technical standards and driving improvements in performance.

About the Person

The ideal candidate for this role is a seasoned geotechnical engineering professional with a strong foundation in infrastructure design, investigation, and technical governance. You are someone who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and takes pride in delivering practical, safe, and innovative solutions that support the long-term integrity of water and wastewater assets.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Professional affiliation and recognition by Engineers Australia (e.g., Chartered status or working towards) is desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, procedures, and practices, particularly within the water industry and large-scale infrastructure environments
  • High-level experience in the investigation, option development, concept and detailed design of geotechnical infrastructure, including auditing and reviewing third-party designs
