About the role  

We are looking for a Technology Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer to join our Technology team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimising SA Water’s infrastructure environment. You’ll help ensure our systems are secure, resilient, and performing at their best, while contributing to future planning and continuous improvement.  You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver reliable technology services that support our business operations and customer outcomes.

About you

You’re a collaborative and solutions focused professional with a strong technical foundation and a proactive approach to problem solving. You take pride in delivering high quality work and are comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities can shift.  You’ll bring a strong customer service ethic, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety and innovation.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Supporting and maintaining infrastructure systems including servers, backups, and monitoring tools to ensure reliable performance
  • Responding to incidents, actioning service requests and change activities within agreed timeframes
  • Monitoring infrastructure capacity, availability, and performance to maintain stable operations
  • Implementing upgrades and changes with minimal disruption to business functions
  • Applying patches and maintaining security controls in line with cyber security standards
  • Reviewing access permissions and contributing to strategies that strengthen infrastructure security
  • Identify and recommend improvements to infrastructure, systems, and operational processes
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to review technologies and manage assets
  • Standardising documentation and procedures to support consistent and efficient operations
  • Enhancing infrastructure resilience and supporting future growth through technical input and planning
  • Providing expert advice to support business plans, projects, and the delivery of new capabilities

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Experience managing infrastructure systems using recognised industry practices
  • A collaborative approach and clear communication skills
  • A positive mindset with a focus on practical solutions
  • A degree in computer science, engineering, or relevant certifications (preferred)
  • Familiarity with technologies like Windows Server, VMware, Citrix, Active Directory, Azure, SQL, and Linux/Unix
  • ITIL certification (preferred)
