About the job  

In this role, you will work closely with operational teams, customers, and key stakeholders to provide technical advice, evaluate performance data, support compliance activities, and identify opportunities to optimise trade waste and network performance.

Reporting to the Trade Waste Technical Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting operational performance through data analysis, investigations, reporting, and technical problem-solving.

About Operations and Maintenance 

The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater and River Murray activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.

About you

You are an analytical and solutions-focused professional who enjoys working collaboratively to deliver practical outcomes. You can confidently interpret technical information, communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, and use data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

You will: 

  • Deliver high-level technical advice to operational teams and customers on trade waste management, wastewater networks, compliance requirements, and operational performance.
  • Monitor and analyse trade waste performance data, calculate KPI performance, and prepare regulatory reports for EPA, NPI, ESCOSA, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement initiatives that improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and performance of Trade Waste and Network Operations.
  • Conduct investigations into operational issues, pollution incidents, and trade waste impacts, providing recommendations and contributing to root cause analyses.
  • Build strong relationships across operational teams, customers, and key stakeholders, providing technical guidance, training, and support to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Support a strong safety culture by developing safe work practices, ensuring compliance with WHS requirements, and contributing to safe systems of work for trade waste operations.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Relevant qualification or experience in Science, Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to influence and share technical knowledge with operational teams, customers, and key stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with operational systems, with the ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • Experience or knowledge of trade waste, wastewater networks, wastewater treatment, or related operational environments, including investigations and performance monitoring.
