About the role

As a Senior Engineer Mechanical, you’ll provide expert technical support across a wide range of water and wastewater projects. In this role, you will lead high-level technical investigations, design development, system reviews, audits, and advisory services, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and the delivery of robust, sustainable infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support on Safety in Design (SiD) matters and support the Principal Engineer on technical development of the Engineering Mechanical team.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and comprehensive information and documentation to customers, with a strong emphasis on minimizing delays and offering cost-effective solutions.
  • Support with developing strategies and documentation across operations, maintenance and condition-based monitoring.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure engineering outcomes meet business partners expectations.
  • Assist the Principal Mechanical Engineer in reviewing and updating SA Water’s technical standards and guidelines related to the mechanical engineering aspects of its infrastructure.

About the Person

You are a Senior Mechanical Engineer with ideally water industry experience, who has a passion for developing junior team members. You are passionate about sustainability and ready to help shape the future of engineering at SA Water. You will need the following to be successful:   

  • A professional engineering qualification (e.g. Tertiary Mechanical or Hydraulic).
  • Post Graduate Qualification is highly desirable
  • Strong detailed knowledge of Mechanical Engineering procedures and practices as applied to the water industry and large engineering organisations.
  • Proven experience in the provision of investigation, option, concept, and detailed design of Mechanical infrastructure associated with water infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in delivering innovative, complex, and high-impact engineering investigations and designs within the Mechanical Engineering discipline.
