Behind this essential service are people who care. From engineering and science to construction, digital, operations and customer experience, every role plays a part. We bring our authentic selves to work, driven by purpose, supporting one another to deliver work that truly matters.

About the job

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this is a critical enterprise leadership role. This role is responsible for shaping and delivering SA Water's Data, AI and Analytics strategy, ensuring the organisation can harness emerging technologies while maintaining strong data governance, data quality and information management practices.

As the Senior Manager Data, AI & Analytics (Chief Data & AI Officer), you will work across the entire organisation, partnering with executives, senior leaders, operational teams and external stakeholders to influence strategic decision making and unlock business value through data and AI.

This role is about more than implementing technology. It is about making smart investment decisions, balancing innovation with business outcomes, and ensuring SA Water focuses on the solutions that will deliver the greatest value for our customers, communities and workforce.

This is a 3-year max term, full-time opportunity available.

Plus – an Attractive Relocation Allowance
We offer an attractive relocation allowance for candidates who are looking to make the move to beautiful South Australia!

About the Person

You are a contemporary and collaborative leader who builds strong relationships and influences at all levels of an organisation. You are equally comfortable discussing strategic direction with executives and the Board as you are partnering with teams to drive adoption and change.

You bring a proven track record leading complex data, analytics and AI functions, with the ability to translate technical concepts into meaningful business outcomes. You understand that successful AI adoption requires more than technology. It requires strong governance, stakeholder engagement, clear communication, and a practical approach to delivering value.

Most importantly, you have the credibility and foresight to guide investment decisions in a rapidly evolving technology landscape, ensuring organisations invest wisely, manage risk effectively, and remain focused on long-term outcomes.

About Technology

The Technology business group enables everything SA Water does. We provide the digital platforms, systems and data that support safe, reliable water and wastewater services for communities across South Australia.

Working in Technology means delivering purpose‑driven work with real‑world impact. You’ll find opportunities to support critical operational systems, strengthen cyber security, unlock insights through data, and modernise how we operate. You’ll partner closely with frontline, engineering, and corporate teams to design solutions that are practical, secure, and fit for a 24/7 utility environment.

Be part of a people‑focused, future‑ready team that values collaboration, learning, and innovation. It’s a team where your work helps keep essential services running today and supports a more resilient South Australia into the future.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Develop and lead SA Water's enterprise Data, AI and Analytics strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
  • Provide strategic advice to executive leaders and the Board on data, AI, governance, risks and investment opportunities.
  • Champion a data-driven and AI-enabled culture across the organisation through strong stakeholder engagement and influence.
  • Establish and maintain robust data, AI and information governance frameworks, including oversight of records and information management.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams across Data Platforms, Data Products, Data & AI Governance, and Records & Information Management.
  • Drive informed technology and capability investment decisions that deliver long-term value, innovation and business outcomes for SA Water.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Significant leadership experience within data, analytics, AI or related technology functions.
  • Experience developing and implementing enterprise-wide data and AI strategies.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience working with senior executives, governance forums and Boards.
  • Strong commercial and strategic judgement, with the ability to balance innovation, risk and investment outcomes.
  • A collaborative leadership style that empowers teams and builds organisational capability.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Data Management, Data Science, Information Technology, Business Management or a related discipline.
