About the job

Due to internal movement, we have an exciting opportunity for a Supply Chain Excellence and Change Officer to join SA Water’s Business Insights and Excellence group. In this pivotal role, you will strengthen governance and compliance across procurement activities while supporting best practice procurement initiatives. You will be responsible for performing quality reviews and compliance checks, developing and implementing change activity plans, ensuring alignment with corporate policies, procedures, and legislative requirements. The position also contributes to continuous improvement by maintaining our document register containing procurement templates, tools and procedures, coordinating policy acknowledgements, and supporting stakeholder understanding of change activities. Building strong relationships with internal and external partners, providing training and advice, and delivering timely procurement support services will be key to enhancing efficiency and service excellence across the organisation.

About the person

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented professional with strong communication skills and a passion for continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring experience in audit, compliance, and change management processes, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines. They will be confident in business planning and reporting, while demonstrating a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement. An understanding of procurement practices, policy and procedure maintenance, and systematic business improvement will be highly regarded. Above all, this person will be enthusiastic about learning, adaptable to change, and committed to supporting best practice procurement outcomes.

The Business Insights and Excellence group drives operational excellence by enabling best business financial practices, economic pricing, supply chain management, and corporate governance and risk management to support the broader business and partners in delivering reliable, cost-effective, sustainable, and future-focused outcomes.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Conduct quality reviews, compliance checks, and maintain procurement document control processes.
  • Support the implementation of government-wide policy changes and ensure 100% compliance with SA Water policies.
  • Lead the development and implementation of change activity plans for procurement initiatives.
  • Provide training and advice to internal stakeholders, ensuring strong working relationships and high customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver timely procurement support services, including accurate data input and system maintenance.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in audit/compliance assessment, quality, and change management processes.
  • Proven ability in business planning, reporting, and managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of procurement practices, ideally within the SA Government framework (desirable).
  • Experience in policy/procedure maintenance, document register administration (e.g. SharePoint), and systematic business improvement (desirable).
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Economics, Logistics, Management, Commerce, or Business (desirable).
